CHRISAL is Recyclable and Biodegradable
Chrisal products are recyclable and biodegradable. Chrisal Probiotics is committed to processing used materials into new products, preventing waste of potentially useful materials, reducing the consumption of fresh raw materials, reducing energy usage, reducing air pollution and water pollution, by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal". Recycling is a key component of modern waste management.
You may have wondered how the symbol of the chasing arrow started. The universal recycling symbol is recognized around the world to designate recyclable materials.
The original recycling symbol was designed in 1970 by 23-year-old, Gary Anderson, a senior at the University of Southern California at Los Angeles. It was submitted to a contest for art and design students sponsored by the Container Corporation of America. The contest was a result of continuing growth of consumer awareness and environmentalism and in honor of the first Earth Day.
The recycling symbol represents a Mobius loop consisting of three-chasing-arrows in the shape of a triangle having rounded vertices. Each arrow twists and turns itself, and all three arrows chase each other. It is a consummate representation of recycling. The mobius loop, a mathematical marvel of simplicity itself was discovered in 1858 by August Ferdinand Möbius (1790-1868), a German mathematician and astronomer.
What does bio-degradable mean? There is no legal definition of “biodegradable,” but the American Society for Testing and Materials defines the term as “a degradation caused by biological activity, especially by enzymatic action, leading to a significant change in the chemical structure of the material.” The European Union deems a material biodegradable if it will break down into mostly water, carbon dioxide and organic matter within six months.
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the U.S., however, has issued some general guidelines on what types of products qualify as legitimately biodegradable, and has even sued companies for unsubstantiated, misleading and/or deceptive use of the term on product labels.
According to the FTC, only products that contain materials that “break down and decompose into elements found in nature within a reasonably short amount of time when they are exposed to air, moisture and bacteria or other organisms” should be marketed as “biodegradable".
CHRISAL products are based on naturally occurring bacteria in aqueous solutions. They are safe to humans and animals. They are both recyclable and biodegradable.
